Suitability as literacy
Match products to objectives with critical thinking — customer goals as a thinking tool. Education only — not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.
Objectives first
- What is the money for (horizon, liquidity needs, risk capacity)?
- What failure would hurt most?
- Are constraints (ethics, tax wrappers, concentration) explicit?
Critical thinking, not slogans
High-volatility products can be mismatched to short-horizon cash needs. Income-sounding products can still lose principal. Literacy asks whether the shape of risk fits the goal.
Who is the customer in the thought experiment?
Practice by writing a fictional profile: age band, horizon, experience, and what must not happen. Then ask which product features conflict. No recommendations — just feature-fit reasoning.
Boundary
This module builds judgment vocabulary for adults. It is not a compliance manual and not personalized advice.
Practice tip: Journal fictional profiles alongside fake portfolios on /portfolio/ and /mock/.
