Delayed educational marks — chart vocabulary

Not investment advice. Educational chart vocabulary only. This page does not tell you to buy, sell, or hold anything. Delayed marks on the Lab are for literacy practice with fake balances — not live trading, not alerts, not broker quotes you should act on. Markets involve risk of loss. Delayed or incomplete data can be wrong. Voltron Trading Lab is not a broker, advisor, or exchange.

Data source: When a mark appears on Mock / Charts, the screen must name the vendor or feed (or “Lab schematic / stub” if none).

Delay: Approximate latency must appear next to the mark (e.g. ~15–20 min · end-of-day · exchange delay · “example only” · “Coming Soon — no live chain”).

Practice context: FAKE MONEY only.

Why “delayed” matters

A mark is just a displayed last / mid / reference price the Lab shows for education. “Delayed” means the number is not guaranteed real-time.

You might seePlain meaning
LastMost recent trade the feed reported (may be stale)
Bid / askIndicative quotes from the feed’s rules — definitions vary by vendor
Mark / midA reference the Lab uses for paper P&L — still FAKE MONEY

On this site, marks teach how panels are labeled. They do not authorize an order in the real world.

Label rule (every chart or quote chip)

Every educational mark block should show, in plain text:

  1. Source — who provided the number (or “schematic / not a live feed”)
  2. Delay — how stale it is allowed to be
  3. Context — FAKE MONEY practice · Not investment advice

If any of those three is missing, treat the number as a drawing, not a quote.

The practice hub may show doors for futures, forex, and cash bonds. Those doors are vocabulary / FAKE MONEY stub practice. We do not invent live futures chains, live FX books, or a cash-bond inventory.

Quick self-check

  1. Can you explain delayed vs real-time without recommending a trade?
  2. Can you refuse to trust a mark that lacks source + delay?
  3. Can you tell futures / FX / bond stubs from live broker quotes?
  4. Can you say: Lab marks are for fake-money literacy; past ≠ future?
